Wind Symphony

In the liberal arts tradition, the Wind Symphony is intended to provide performance opportunities for students studying music as a major as well as for those who may be intending to develop careers in other fields. The Wind Symphony performs the finest of traditional as well as contemporary wind literature, and has been involved in the commissioning of several original works from esteemed composers. The group has played under leading international guest conductors from Hungary, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Israel and the United States.

The ensemble has also hosted several composers' and conductors' forums for state music educators with noted guests Bernard van Beurden, Jere Hutcheson, Kamillo Lendvay, David Gillingham, Jack Stamp, Ron Nelson, Daniel Bukvich and Nancy Galbraith.

The Wind Symphony has embarked on extensive tours throughout the United States and Europe. Most recently, the group completed a nine-day tour of Italy with guest director and concert pianist Lorin Hollander. The ensemble is open by audition to Carroll students regardless of major. Significant scholarships are available for those who apply and are accepted as an incoming freshman.
